Customer Rating: Summary: I can't live without it, and it's BREAKING!!!! Comment: This machine has made the #1 biggest improvement in my health! My chronic sinusitis made me so tired it was terrible, and I had a truly awful looking CAT scan and was told by one doctor I needed to have surgery. I considered it, but recovery was going to be difficult since I have small children, including a toddler that I have to carry a lot, so instead I went on allergy shots and began irrigating my sinuses every day. It really is effective, I'm amazed how much gunk (gross,I know) comes out that I could never remove by blowing my nose. Now when I catch a cold, it still sometimes starts to turn into a sinus infection and begins to migrate into my chest. But I'm able to reverse it in several days by aggresively irrigating/taking Sudafed. I haven't needed antibiotics for almost 2 years now.
Those were the pros, now for the cons: After 18 months the machine is really breaking down. The pump barely works anymore. In fact it had quit working completely, but my husband took it apart and somehow got it working again. Still, sometimes I have to bang it against the counter to get it going--I know it's on its last leg. So, I'm limping along, hoping it lasts a bit longer because I really don't want to put out another $100 for another one. I think the machine is a bit overpriced for what it is and how poorly it's made--I think it should cost somewhere from $50-$70, but in the end I suppose I'll have to cave in and plunk down $100 to buy another one. Because my health is priceless! I have three young daughters to care for and I can't do it if sinus issues are draining my energy.
Customer Rating: Summary: I was skeptical, at best Comment: I never would have believed the claims made in the reviews without trying this for myself. I've been suffering recurring sinus infections for nearly 6 years. During the past 3+ years, if I have gotten a cold it has turned into a sinus infection in less than 2 weeks. I've been to my internist more times than I care to recount, an ENT, had a CT scan of my sinuses, taken OTC meds, steroids, antibiotics, and more antibiotics. I finally decided to give this a try and muct to my delight, it actually works. It's fast and easy to use. I highly recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not a reliable product Comment: The Grossan Irrigator is conceptually a good idea. The problem is that the execution is very shoddy. I have had to buy two units in the last 2 years, and both developed the same problem. The second unit I bought started to malfuction after only 2 months! The problem is that the unit seems to get clogged. Despite following the instructions that come with the unit, the unit stays clogged. I have finally decided to look for an alternative to this manufacturer.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nasal Irrigantion System is Great! Comment: I've been using a Waterpik with a sinus attachment for years to prevent chronic sinus infections, so I was thrilled to find a device that was made especially for that with accompanying packets of mix to put in the water. Before, I used salt and baking soda, but it was a pain in the neck to make. This product works so well and it also has a throat irrigation attachment to clean out the crypts on the side of your throat. I can't recommend the product highly enough. I only hope it lasts longer than the Waterpiks with sinus attachments that I have used in the past.
Customer Rating: Summary: This thing works Comment: I bought this unit on the recommendation of a friend who said this helped her two sons, her husband and herself with sinus problems. I think it works and is helpful in keeping the sinuses clean and germ free. I was having sinus problems with frequent colds. Since using this unit those things have cleared up and no colds. Sometimes it is just a little uncomfortable when you start but if you relax and breath through your mouth it is comfortable. I gave it 4 stars because you need to use it with a solution they sell and that stuff adds up quickly adding to its overall cost in the long run. i tried using it with a saline solution or just water and I don't think it works as good. Oh one hint when using it, don't turn your head side ways. Stay bent over the sink with you looking at the drain of the sink.
